Deepali Fernandes

Dr. iur.

Deepali Fernandes is a trade, finance and labour migration expert with nearly 20 years of experience.  She has worked with the private and the public sector (United Nations) and is currently Advisor, with the UN Capital Development Fund and senior consultant to the Africa Free Trade Agreement Secretariat on trade in services. 

She was Senior Economic Development Specialist with the International Organization for Migration from 2018-2022, Economics Affairs Officer with UNCTAD for 9 years and in private practice in India and the UK. She also worked as a consultant with the WTO, UNEP, UNDP, UN Think-Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries and the Southern African Development Community.

Deepali was a visiting fellow at the University of Cambridge and the Beijing University of International Business and Economics, and guest lecturer at IMD Business School, Lausanne, University of Pennsylvania and the Government Law College, Mumbai. She was United Nation Secretary General´s nominee on the United Nations Joint Appeals Board, elected member of the United Nations Arbitration Council and is currently selected for the European Union pool of experts Suitable for Appointment as Chairpersons for Arbitrations and trade and sustainable development Expert Panel Proceedings

Deepali completed her BA (Economics) and LLB in India, her LLM in London (SOAS) and her PhD (Finance and Trade) at the University of Zurich. She is admitted as a Solicitor, Law Society of England and Wales and as Advocate, Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
